Obituary:
Born August 28, 1972 in Orange, California, she lived in Ukiah most of her life, where she attended Oak Manor Elementary, Pomolita Middle School and Ukiah High ('90). She earned a Bachelor's degree and a paralegal degree at St. Mary's College in Moraga. She worked briefly as a paralegal in the Bay Area but decided to return to Ukiah to pursue her true calling as a teacher. After receiving certification at Dominican College, she began her career as a first grade teacher at Calpella Elementary School in 1997. She was a gifted teacher who loved her students, and they loved her. In 2000, she married Adam Aikman. They were blessed with two sons, and she then found a second calling as a loving mother. She is survived by her sons Andrew 8 and Casey 6, her parents Susan and Robert Blackwelder, her brothers Mark and Brian, her sister-in-law, Kathryn, her niece, Lydia, as well as Adam Aikman and a large extended family. She was taken from us suddenly and far too soon as result of a tragic accident on August 12. The brightness of her red hair was only exceeded by her spirit. She will be sorely missed by her family, friends, colleagues and students. A memorial service will be held at Eversole Mortuary on Saturday, August 22, at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jennifer Blackwelder Aikman Trust Fund for Primary School Education through Savings Bank of Mendocino County
