Obituary:
A lifelong resident of Ukiah, Karen passed away after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis on Sunday May 2, 2010. Karen is the mother Kristi Van Tassel McHugh & Gary McHugh of Ukiah, daughter of Marjorie Baird of Ukiah, currently residing in San Jose. She is the sister of Laura Baird Petersen & Jack Petersen of Spanish Fork, UT and Wendy Baird Yegge & Jim Yegge of San Jose, CA. Karen is preceded in death by her father Norman Baird.
Karen graduated from Ukiah High School in 1967 and still has many friends from school who visited her while she was in Valley View Hospital. The family thanks Valley View Hospital and staff for all their care over the past years.
Though life presented many challenges for Karen, her face always lit up when she was around friends and family. Laughing came easily to her. Every visit ended with “I love you’s” for everyone. Karen loved music, movies and friends. She will be missed by us all including her 19 nieces and nephews, and 31 grand nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 6th at 1:00 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1337 South Dora Street, Ukiah. The burial will follow the services at the Ukiah Cemetery, Low Gap Road.
