Obituary:
Cirila Banuelos

Cirila Banuelos passed away at the age of 65 years old at her home in Ukiah, CA on Saturday, June 19, 2010.
Cirila was born on May 26, 1945 in Acambaro, Guanajuato as the firstborn to her father, Atanacio Plaza, and her mother, Aurora Zuniga. She was the eldest of her five siblings and always took her responsibilities to her family with the utmost dedication. Cirila continually put God first in her life, always maintaining a strong sense of her Christian identity no matter where she lived or what trials she faced. She always appreciated the simple pleasures in life and never took for granted the relationships she had with others, viewing everyone she met as her “mijo” of “mija”.
There is a Chinese proverb that states that “one generation plants the trees, and another gets the shade”. Cirila understood this concept on many different levels. She knew that by dedicating herself to whatever task was at hand, it would contribute to a brighter future for everyone. Many in the community benefited from her efforts at Trinity School and Ukiah Valley Medical Center. Still others benefited from the thousands of tamales that she made over the course of her life.
In her spare time, Cirila enjoyed starting and cultivating gardens. She never felt that one particular flower or plant was more unique than another and was always trying to add natural beauty with our modern world. It is rather interesting that Erma Bombeck once said that one should “never trust a doctor whose office plants have died”; if this truly is the case then Cirila had more degrees than anyone ever known as her home contained the entire Earth’s natural habitat running in seemingly perfect homeostasis.
Cirila never lost sight of her family and in actuality she knew that her family was her greatest asset. Many times parents are asked the question, “Which child is your favorite?” And, many times a generic response of “I love them all equally” is given. But, Cirila really meant those words; she loved all six of her children equally. She continually offered loving support and guidance for all of them when they needed it most. The love she had for her grandchildren was evident by her yearly tours across the United States to visit each and every single one of them. Her acceptance of the “in-laws” was much more than just acceptance, but rather a blood relation that could not be broken.
Cirila is survived by her siblings Elvira, Angel, Rogelio, Miguel, Rosa and Francisco and by son Jose Juan and daughter-in-law DeAnn Banuelos and their children Estela, EJ, Brandon, Devin, Hilario, Braxton, Bryahna, Ludivina, Karissa, Nikohlas; son Isaias Banuelos and his children Melly and Mena; daughter Rosalva Banuelos and son-in-law Tin Tu and their son LiDerek; daughter Norma and son-in-law Juvy Vasquez and their children Julian and Sebastian; daughter Ofelia and son-in-law Nick Channell; and daughter Pricilla and son-in-law Johnny Fang.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 between the hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Eversole Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Ukiah Assembly of God Church.
