Obituary:
It is with great sadness that our family announces a sudden death. Christopher Scott Blancett, age 51 passed away on March 11, 2020 at his home in Potter Valley. Chris was born on January 7, 1969 in Ukiah to Leroy and Nancy Blancett. In 1979 he and his family moved to Potter Valley, the valley that he loved. He graduated from Potter Valley schools and went to work for Retech. He worked for Retech for many years as a skilled welder and fabricator. While working for Retech he traveled throughout the world, making many lifelong friends. Chris spent time living and working in remote Prince of Wales Island in Alaska, a lifestyle that he loved. He also lived and worked in Ray, North Dakota for a number of years. In 2018 he returned to Potter Valley to live and said this is home and I’m not leaving again. He loved to fish and hunt and spent many happy hours in the backwoods. Chris walked softly, respectfully, and thoughtfully through this live. He had the wonderful ability to get to know people by their true character and made many friends wherever he went. Chris leaves a son Nicholas Blancett, of Santa Rosa. His mother Nancy Blancett, of Potter Valley. His sister Shelly Bazzani and her husband Mike, of Ukiah and brother Greg Blancett and his wife Jen, of Plumas Lake. He was predeceased by his father Leroy Blancett. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. Chris loved his family and was so proud of his son Nick. He was a wonderful man who touched many lives and will be missed so much.
