Obituary:
Gertrude Bogner passed away peacefully on New Year’s Eve, at home, surrounded by her family.

Born on Valentine’s Day in 1921 in Illinois, she was the 11th of 13 children, she came to Ukiah, in 1938, where she stayed with her uncle and aunt, and worked at the original Maple Café. Early on she met Walt Bogner, and in 1941 while she was in Illinois for Christmas, he sent her an engagement ring in a milk bottle. They were married in May of 1942.

Gert and Walt took over Pleasant View Dairy from his father. She actively worked in the dairy with her husband and then her son, Jim, until 2008.

She most enjoyed doing things for other people. When her children were young she volunteered for their many activities. She was active in St. Mary’s church. She was a regular blood donor at Blood Bank of the Redwoods. In her later years, she volunteered many enjoyable hours at the Ukiah Senior Center.

She was an avid card player through the years, most recently playing Bunco.

Family was always her main focus – arranging and participating in events and celebrations.

She was predeceased by her husband and all 12 of her siblings.

She is survived by her children, Fran (Mike) Adams of Petaluma, Jim (Kathy) Bogner of Ukiah, 5 grandchildren, Jennifer Martin and Jeff Adams of Petaluma, Matt Bogner and Ben Bogner of Ukiah and Tim Bogner of Belmont. She also leaves 6 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, January 8th at Eversole Mortuary, from 1pm until the Rosary at 7pm, and again on Saturday from 9am to 10:30am. Services will be held at St. Mary’s Church on Saturday, January 9th, at 11am. Reception immediately following.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Mary’s Church, Ukiah Senior Center, or Phoenix Hospice.
