Obituary:
Lorraine Bonini, 85, a lifelong Ukiah resident passed away Friday, September 17, 2021.
Born October 7, 1935 in Ukiah, Lorraine was a graduate of Ukiah High School. She spent her childhood years during World War II living in San Francisco while her father worked in the Naval Shipyards in support of the war effort, giving her two great gifts: 1) sharing tales of The City during that extraordinary time, and 2) the interest in making and perfecting her favorite dish "Cioppino" into a desired and closely held family secret.
Her career was spent in Ukiah as a dental assistant and eventually a laboratory technician prior to her retirement. Her true vocation, however, was in being a tireless caregiver in service to her family and closest friends. She was also a favored "second mother" to her nephew Darby Brennan.
Lorraine is survived by her nephew, Darby and his wife Krista of Menlo Park, her two beloved grand-nieces, Gemma and Gioia as well as cousins Gail Leland of Redwood Valley and numerous others.
In passing, Lorraine joins the souls of her father and mother, Luigi and Katie Bonini as well as her beloved sister, Donna (Bonini) Menne.
"Auntie" Lorraine will forever be remembered for her sincere heart, her excellent sense of humor, and a candor she bestowed on those she loved most. Lorraine was fiercely loved and treasured by family and close friends for her strength, determination and the care she so selflessly administered.
