Charles A. Tassin (Chuck) was born on September 8, 1937 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to George R. and Priscilla Theriot Tassin. Chuck passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife and children surrounding him.
Chuck’s family moved around California and eventually driving to Arkansas leaving Arkansas they drove to Oregon and settled in Merlin, Oregon, making their final home in Grants Pass, Oregon. Chuck enjoyed hunting and fishing growing up in Oregon. Chuck graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1956; after graduation he went into the United States Navy serving from 1956 to 1961. Chuck worked as a machinist mate on the USS Jarvis and USS George Mackenzie a destroyer. He enrolled in airline school and went to Ontario, California as a reservation agent.
Chuck wanting a little more excitement in his life applied to the Arcadia Police Department; only one position was open and Chuck was hired. Chuck attended Pasadena City College for a six week course in police procedures. Chuck worked for Arcadia Police Department 4 years and eventually applied for California Highway Patrol and attended a 16-week course in Sacramento. After graduation on July 13, 1966, he served in Baldwin Park, California going on to serve in Pomona, Ontario, Santa Rosa, Lakeport, and Ukiah. Chuck retired in 1995 after serving over 25 years.
Chuck is survived by his wife Saundra S. Tassin; his sons Aaron Tassin of Cameron Park, Trenton Tassin of Rancho Cucamonga, daughters April Gaddis, Kalispell, Mt., Teresa Tassin Hesperia and sister Carolyn Castro Sacramento. Chuck loved all his 6 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
