Nancy Joan
Commons passed from this life on December 5th, 2015.
Born April 14, 1941, in Indiana, Nancy came to Ukiah in 1973 after serving as a lieutenant in the US Navy. She was a long-time member of the Methodist Church, where she was a pastoral partner, leading discussion groups and arranging events.
Nancy loved the natural world she shared with friends; camping, leading hikes and exploring the magnificence of the outdoors.
During her years as a pediatric nurse practitioner, Nancy helped and loved many children throughout Mendocino County. Nancy spent countless hours volunteering at the Ukiah Animal Shelter, training, walking and loving the dogs. She was a member of two long-lasting women's groups.
Nancy was a life long learner and traveled the world.
Nancy leaves her love of life to her friends, so many of whom helped care for her at her home in her final weeks, and to her cat Cocoa, and her dog, Joy.
There will be a memorial service for Nancy Sunday, December 13th, 4pm, at the Ukiah United Methodist Church, 270 N. Pine Street, Ukiah, California.
