Obituary:
Isagani “Danny” Damian Dalistan of Ukiah, California passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021, with his beloved wife Paz Victoria by his side. He was 78.
Danny was born in Quezon City, Philippines to father Cornelio Dalistan and mother Saturnina Damian Dalistan on February 9, 1943. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Santo Tomas in 1964. His strong work ethic led him to pursue a medical degree at Manila Central University, becoming a general practitioner in 1969 and an anesthesiologist in 1971. In medical school, Danny met his future wife Paz, and they were married in 1971. Their daughter Maria was born in 1974. In 1976 the family moved to Ahvaz, Iran where Danny and Paz practiced medicine. Due to the instability that arose with the Iranian Revolution in 1978, they left the country for the United States. After arriving in the Bay Area to reconnect with relatives, they were presented with an opportunity to move to a little town called Ukiah and start a business. Together with Paz, they opened Dalistan Residential Care Home in 1980, providing care and assistance for the elderly community for over 40 years. In 1983, their son John was born.
As an avid sports fan, Danny spent many good times cheering for the San Francisco Giants and the 49ers. He also loved to bowl and over the years would sponsor and participate in many teams at the Yokayo Bowl. Danny had a generous heart and loved the holidays. His favorite time of the year was Christmas, in which he enjoyed lavishly decorating his home, preparing delicious holiday meals, and entertaining friends and family.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Paraluman and Sinag, and brothers Florante and Jose. He is survived by his wife Paz Victoria; daughter Maria and husband Derek Vanderhorst; son John and wife Jessica; brother Plaridel Dalistan; grandchildren Madeleine, Thea, Julian, and Joel; and countless extended family members. All loved him dearly.
A visitation will be held for Danny on Friday, December 3, 2021 at 7 pm at Eversole Mortuary. The funeral service will be at St. Mary’s Church on December 4, 2021 at 10 am followed by his interment at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
