David E. Salisbury

David E. Salisbury, born October 9, 1946, passed away unexpectedly, peacefully, and quickly in Bend, Oregon, on June 29, 2026.

David lived in Ukiah, California, for most of his life before moving to Oregon in February 2026.

Anyone who knew Dave knew how private he was. In fact, it took some convincing for him to allow an obituary to be written at all. He was a man who valued a quiet life and preferred to let his actions speak for themselves.

David proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968, including a tour of duty in Ubon, Thailand. It was the farthest he ever lived from his hometown of Ukiah.

After his military service, Dave worked as a truck parts salesman from 1968 to 1986. He then began a second career with the Ukiah Police Department, where he served as a 911 Police and Fire Dispatcher from 1986 until his retirement in December 2006. During those years, he quietly helped countless people in times of need with professionalism and dedication.

Although a lifelong bachelor for many years, David married Jo Ann Gandee in 1989. Jo Ann preceded him in death in November 2007.

David is survived by Jo Ann's two children, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, who were grateful to have him as part of their family.

In keeping with David's wishes and his private nature, no formal services will be held.
