Verleen Eidsmoe
October 3, 1949 – February 11, 2020
Our beloved Mother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, Grandmother, and Friend, Verleen Eidsmoe, passed away peacefully in her sleep after a sudden illness on February 11, 2020.
Born in Waterloo, Iowa, she was the firstborn of US Navy Seaman Veryl Eidsmoe and Shirley May Baker Eidsmoe. She has been reunited with them in heaven, along with her brother Mark Eidsmoe and her aunt Marilynn Eidsmoe. She is survived by her sons Jacob Eidsmoe and Adam Hotchkiss, brother Daniel Eidsmoe, sister-in-law Tracey Eidsmoe, her niece Sierra Eidsmoe, her nephew Spencer Eidsmoe, her cousin John Eidsmoe, and her grandchildren Jaxon Eidsmoe and Bradley Eidsmoe, along with many dear friends and relatives.
Verleen was a true testament of how a woman could overcome so many difficulties and still come away with such a positive and optimistic outlook on life. She was an avid reader, a lover of science fiction, law, and true crime stories, adored her family, and enjoyed spoiling her grandsons. She had a degree in nursing as well as a Master's degree in Psychology, and her professional life included being a DJ at K-Wine radio, a registered nurse, and eventually a legal mediator. She was a proud vegetarian, a yoga addict, and known by many as the health-conscious woman always walking, running, or bicycling around Ukiah, waving and smiling as she passed people by. Those who know Verleen will always miss, but never forget, her contagious laughter, her constantly wanting to help others, her love, her friendship, and the light she brought into this world.
A private memorial to celebrate her life will be held in the spring in Beresford, South Dakota, where she will be laid to rest with her family.
In Lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in Verleen’s name to Redwood Community Services – Building Bridges, 1045 S. State St., Ukiah, CA 95482.
