Geneva Kinney (Burrell), age 81, passed away at her home on August 18, 2025, in Redwood Valley, California. Born on February 7, 1944, in Lassen, California, Geneva lived a life marked by devotion to her family, commitment to her community, and a deep generosity that touched countless lives.

Geneva built a lasting legacy as a successful local business owner for more than 25 years. Through hard work and perseverance, she created not only a thriving business but also a welcoming space that reflected her values of care, kindness, and community. After retiring, her dedication to customer service continued at the local community college, where she assisted students in the campus bookstore for over a decade.

Known for her nurturing spirit, Geneva had a gift for caring for others—whether through a warm conversation, a home-cooked meal fresh from her oven, or the vibrant flowers she lovingly tended in her garden. Baking and gardening were more than hobbies; they were heartfelt expressions of love. Her “infamous” banana bread became a favorite among family and friends. Geneva also cherished spending time with her sister—often indulging in shopping trips, always with others in mind and rarely for herself.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, John Kinney; her daughter, Janelle Rau (John); and her sister, Denise Gorny (Phil). Geneva was a beloved grandmother to Davis, Colten, Nikolai, Casey, and Maddie, and a proud great-grandmother to Kyler, Mila, Navy, and Kate. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will remember her warmth and strength. Geneva often said her greatest accomplishments in life were her family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Brent; her parents, Olga and Ernest; and her brothers, Jeff, Brooks, and Michael Burrell.

Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her—as a devoted wife and mother, a loving grandmother, sister, and aunt, and a trusted friend.

May Geneva’s memory bring comfort and peace to those who knew and loved her.
