Gerald Byron Painter Jr.

Gerald Byron Painter, Jr. was born on April 18, 1958 in Hollywood, California. With his loving wife by his side, he passed away at his Redwood Valley home on July 6, 2024 after a battle with vascular dementia. Gerry moved to Mendocino County as a baby. He grew up, attended school, and spent his entire life in the Ukiah area. After graduating high school and several jobs, he found his passion in driving trucks. He worked for multiple companies over the course of his career, with 30 of those years at Mendocino Forest Products.

Gerry had a larger than life personality. People could hear his boisterous laugh and knew that Gerry was nearby. He enjoyed talking and joking and never met a stranger. He had a great love for his family, friends, and coworkers. Gerry enjoyed hunting, camping, football, traveling, watching his grandchildren play sports, and watching his old western programs.

Gerry was preceded in death by his father Gerald Painter, mother Lorraine Fowler, step-father Harrison Fowler, and sister Charlotte Hatcher. He is survived by his wife Jennifer Doggett Painter, daughter Keli Kirby (Nick), son Kenny Painter, and step-son Luke Fane. He is survived by his grandchildren Beau David, Jakoby Kirby, and Maci Kirby. Gerry is also survived by his brother-in-law Charlie Hatcher, brother Bill Pomeroy, sister Mary Dodd, brother Joe Fowler, and sister-in-law Mary Barnes (David). He is survived by his nieces and nephews; Jeni Bush (Jason), Kim Dunn (Nick), Dawn Lourence (Jimmy), Andy Dodd (Kristen), Katie Maul (Dustin), Joey Fowler (Kristy), Kelsi Fowler, Jacob Fowler, and Wil Barnes. He also leaves behind many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

HIs family appreciates the care and friendship provided by Dr. Decrona over the years. At Gerry’s request, there will not be a service.
