Gordon Neil Beasley

Gordon Neil Beasley, born May 8th, 1954 in Fortuna, Ca. passed away surrounded by family & friends on September 22, 2023.

Most of his school years were while living in Santa Rosa and Ukiah. In Santa Rosa he joined the Boy Scouts thus beginning his love of the outdoors where his father accompanied him on many hikes and campouts. They continued to share a love for hunting, fishing, hiking and camping out while Gordon grew up. Even his mother and sisters were allowed once in a while to share in the adventures.

After moving to Ukiah, while in high school, he became interested in mechanical drawing, cross country track and long distance bike riding which he enjoyed with his close friend Barry.

Upon graduating from high school in 1972, he attended local colleges until enlisting in the Air Force. This started a 30 year span where he advanced through the enlisted ranks until reaching the highest and final rank of Chief Master Sergeant. During that time he earned the Meritorious Service Medal in 7 different years; the AF Commendation Medal in 1980 & 1983; AF Achievement Medal in 1985, 1987 & 1999; NCO of the Year in 1978 & 1987 and lastly, Senior NCO of the Year in 1997.

A few places he was stationed included Spain, the Carolinas, Las Vegas - Nv. and Oklahoma. His job also sent him to other countries including Korea. At his retirement celebration in 2004 as Chief Master Sergeant, he commented that throughout his 30 year career, he had traveled to all 7 continents at one time or another.

After his retirement, he remained an avid outdoorsman, continuing to hunt, fish and whatever else as long as he could be outside. He was a member of the NRA, American Legion, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and lifetime member of the Air Force Sergeants Association.

He is survived by his wife Leslie (Broaddus) Beasley of Ukiah, sisters Barbara Sugar (Michael) of Bethel Island, Ca., Martha Simons (Rick) of Ukiah, Kathleen VanOsten (Cliff) of Chandler, Az., Margaret Beasley of Ukiah and several cousins throughout Northern California.

He was a beloved father to his 2 daughters, Vanessa Beasley-Navarro (Alfonso) of Madrid, Spain and Cassandra Beasley-Navarro of Zaragoza, Spain.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia (Gere) Beasley in 2001 and his father Arthur (Neil) Beasley in 2010.
