Obituary:
Frances Louise Gorton went to sleep in the loving arms of Jesus on September 8th. She passed peacefully with the loving care of Sandra and her daughter.
She was born December 29, 1919 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Emma Louise Jenks and Frank Harper Jenks. When she was only 4 weeks old her father was tragically killed in a train accident. She spent her early years in Mountain View, California and studied nursing at St. Helena. Her nursing skills were done with love for almost her whole life. Most years were spent working for Dr. Kenneth Ridgley. As a mother she was brave, strong and of course loving. An easy life she did not have but her faith in God gave her strength.
Fran is predeceased by her husbands William Gorton and Alvin Atkin, her mother and father, Emma Jenks and Frank Jenks, her loving sister Ruth Whitney (Romayne), her niece and nephew Rachelle Dederer, Richard Whitney, her beloved son-in-law Richard Farr, two stepsons Bob Gorton and William Gorton. She is survived by her son Sidney Lawrence Atkin and his wonderful wife Barbara, her daughter Jonelle Louise Farr, six beloved grandchildren Allison Vargas (Jose), Angela Long (James), Sebastian Farr (Ezra), Simon Farr, Wendy Lisa (John) Gorton and a much anticipated great grandchild, also Wendy! She is also survived by nieces Rosemaye and Rhonda, and nephews Ross and Ronald.
There are many people that showed Fran great love and support, especially Rod and Linda Schulz, Mr. and Mrs. Gates, Claire Berube and Mariana Williams. The church fellowship of the Seventh Day Adventist Church was her rock.
She was able to remain in her home until the end thanks to Hospice, Sandy, Barbara and Linda Schulz.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 5 p.m. at Eversole Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Marantha and the volunteers at Ukiah Valley Medical Center.
