Jason Ward Bunyan

Jason Ward Bunyan of Ukiah passed away peacefully at the age of 53 on Tuesday, July 1st 2025 after a long battle with diabetes and kidney disease.

Jason was born on May 18, 1972 in Hayward CA to Ward Bunyan and Gretchen Lotts (Loberg). He graduated from both Skyline High in Oakland and Ukiah High. He enjoyed singing, writing poetry and short stories, Japanese anime, Magic: The Gathering, video games, music, movies, and was a huge fan of basketball legend Michael Jordan. Jason was beloved by many, and was well-known for his sense of humor, kindness, generosity, faith and his huge heart.

He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years Cheryl Bunyan, stepfather Tony Lotts, grandmother Nancy Lotts, father Ward, cousins Frankie Bean and Michelle Land, brother Anthony Bunyan and nieces Tahnee and Keena. He was preceded in death by his mother Gretchen, grandparents Bill and Pat Cave, aunt and uncle Frank and Tina Bean, and sisters Susan Bunyan and Gloria Bunyan.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all the medical professionals and others who took such wonderful care of Jason during his illness. Services will be held at Eversole Mortuary Friday, July 11, 2025 at 11:00 AM.
