It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John D. Heise III, who left us on June 7, 2026, at the age of 68.Born on December 18, 1957, in Eureka, California, he was raised in Ukiah, California, the community he proudly called home throughout his life.A true jack of all trades, he spent his life mastering whatever challenge came his way. Over the years, he wore many hats and excelled in every role—from selling cars and firearms to building skateboards and countless ventures in between. His talent, determination, and natural ability to connect with others made him successful in everything he pursued. What people will remember most was not what he did for a living, but how he made them feel. He could strike up a conversation with anyone and leave them smiling. Whether with lifelong friends, family, or someone he met during a quick trip to the store, he had a gift for making people feel seen, valued, and welcome. He told the best stories, had a remarkable sense of humor, and could make anyone laugh. To know him was to feel like a friend.John shared a beautiful partnership with his wife, Vickie, for 16 wonderful years. Their marriage was built on love, friendship, loyalty, and countless shared memories. Together they created a life filled with laughter, companionship, adventure, and unwavering support for one another.Above all else, he was a devoted father. As a single dad, he worked tirelessly to provide for and raise his children, Megan and John, who were among his greatest sources of pride. His love, guidance, and sacrifices shaped their lives in immeasurable ways.John had a deep love for music and was a talented guitar player with an incredible knowledge of songs, artists, and music history. The radio was always playing in his home, and he was famous for somehow always knowing the answers to the Coast radio station contests before anyone else. Music was a constant part of his life and one of the many ways he connected with the people around him.He also found joy in countless hobbies and was never one to sit still for long. Whether he was woodworking, fishing in Montana, tying his own flies, cooking for family and friends, riding his motorcycle, or tackling yet another project around the house, he approached everything with enthusiasm, creativity, and skill. The value he placed on people and relationships will never be forgotten. His kindness, humor, and genuine interest in others left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.He is survived by his wife, Vickie Heise; his daughter, Megan Heise, his son, John Heise; his son in law Josh Pruitt and countless friends whose lives were made richer by knowing him.Though his absence leaves an immeasurable void, his stories, laughter, lessons, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those who loved him.
