John David Riordan, Jr. went fishin' with God on April 21, 2026 after a lengthy, valiant battle with liver cancer. An avid fisherman, John was born on May 2, 1947 in Austin, Texas to Johnny and Elizabeth Riordan. A 23-year Air Force Veteran, enlisting in 1965, John's military career took him to assignments in South East Asia, Europe, Iceland, and the United States. Upon his retirement from the Air Force, John and his wife settled in Potter Valley. Beginning a second career as a farmer/rancher on the Pegasus Ranch, he could be found fishing at Lake Mendocino when the chores were done.
A kind gentle man, John will be missed by all who knew and loved him, family and friends alike. Survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Karen; four adult children: Tammy (Christopher) Broxson, and family, Gainsville, Florida; Kathleen Huffstetler (Anthony), and family, Orlando, Florida; son, James, Tampa, Florida; and son, Ragnar David (Eva), and family, Larkollen, Norway. Proud to be grandfather of eleven grandchildren and great-grandfather to four great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his granddaughter Madison, his four brothers and his parents.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 11am at Potter Valley Cemetery.
