(August 14, 1923 to August 04, 2016
Irene (Abegg) Lange, former Treasurer-Tax Collector of Mendocino County, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2016 in her home of 67 years. Upon retirement she was instrumental in establishing the Association of Mendocino County Retired Employees. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Mac Lange. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Bill and Sue Lange of Sacramento, and Susan and Al Sollars of Roseville; grandchildren Steve Gillespie, Jen Gilbert, Chris Harter, and Julie Fiffick; step grandchildren Christina Wood and David Sollars; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Mom always said her life began when she married Mac (Dad)..her life was so much more than anything she could have imagined as a child...moving to Ukiah, raising her children, Bill and Susan, working in the ceramic shop, Talk of the Town restaurant, bookkeeper for Hansen Furniture and then her career with Mendocino County where she served as Treasurer/Tax Collector from 1975 to 1991. Irene and Mac became world travelers after visiting Bill in Germany. They traveled the world and enjoyed their time-share in Maui. They also traveled with Bill and Sue and with Suzy and Al. Mom and Dad played golf and for many years danced the night away. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother, super grandmother, loving great-grandmother and in May she became a great, great-grandmother. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her---but will be in our hearts and memories forever.
