Louise Rodrigue

Louise Rodrigue passed away on December 15, peacefully at her home that she and Leland built 46 years ago. As per her request she wanted to be at her with the beautiful redwood trees, the creek, her green bench and her hummingbird feeders that she loved.

Louise was born October 31,1927 in San Francisco Ca. Along with her parents Wiley and Margaret Nugent she had 2 brothers Wiley and Ernie who have passed and 1 younger sister Lucy who is still alive.

Louise started working at a young age. He father lied about her age because he needed someone to drive one of his taxis for him because her brothers were off to war She was only 14. She ended up being a great driver who never had a wreck.

When she was 19, she went to work at the Crocker Bank in San Francisco which lasted until she married Leland Rodrigue in Belmont Ca on June 20,1949. She became a mother right away. She always told Leland that she wanted 7 kids until she had 5 and then she decided that was enough.

She enjoyed being a mother/homemaker who liked taking care of the house and the plants on her deck along with helping take care of her grandchildren. She has 5 children; 6 grandchildren and she was lucky enough to have 12 great grandchildren. Louise just met her latest great grandchild Colson and made a real love connection with him.

She loved to play pranks on her children, grandchildren and ever her great grandchildren. She loved to hide from them then jump out to scare them. Made her laugh! Her grandchildren have fond memories of her snoring which was hard to sleep thru along with her loud ticking watch. She also served small milkshakes while they watched Shirley Temple.

When Louise’s granddaughter Sara's was in kindergarten, she went in to help out in class. She,fell in love with the kids and enjoyed being called “grandma Lou” especially when a child that she had helped a few years back still called her …. Grandma Lou. She ended up helping for over 20 years.

Louise was married to Leland who was an avid golfer. She decided if she wanted to see him, she should take up golf. So, she did and fell in love with it. She became an excellent golfer and ever now she says “if I didn’t have this walker, I’d be out playing golf”. They enjoyed playing golf together on the Friday couples’ nights.

Louise was buried with her favorite tee shirt on….” I put ketchup on my ketchup “ and a scarf of her favorite football team the 49ers. She loved to watch them play but they better win.

Louise is known by several names…. Lulu, Lou, Brenda, the witch (because she was born on Halloween), Nam, Grams in Town, Mimi, G-Nam and GGLou.

She will be missed.
