Vamos a extrañar mucho a Don Jesús.

José de Jesús Moreno Cisneros was born on June 5, 1938 in Sahuayo Michoacán. He was the oldest in his family. As a child, he liked make slingshots and tops.
Since he was eight years old, he saw the need to work. There was not enough money to help his family. He decided to quit school and help her parents. He never abandoned his parents and continued to help them out to the end.
As a child, he worked wrapping huaraches, but he didn't like being inside a building. His passion was always the country. In Mexico, he worked, harvesting corn, making ditches, building materials to raise houses.
His all-time favorite activity was playing baseball with his friends. He played for many years until he met and married María Socorro, his Peluda. He preferred to leave his favorite sport and the company of his friends to spend more time with his Peluda.
Socorro and Don Jesús were married on June 13, 1981. Don Jesús loved and cared a lot for his Socorrito. He always accompanied her where she went, next to her or on one side of her.
In 1985, Don Jesús received an Amnesty letter and traveled to the United States to work. For many years he worked in the fields in Santa María picking cilantro, spinach and parsley.
2001 he was invited by his nephew to visit Ukiah. Not imagining that he was going to love the community and end up decided to stay.
Although he was retired, Don Jesús found a way to continue working. He worked picking grapes, even if it was for a few hours. Since arriving in Ukiah, he had a need to attend mass. He had an urgency to be to church early, "in case the father needs help," he would say. There were times he would arrive at church an hour before services began.
He was invited to help during several masse and before long they were invited to become a church administrator. It was a pride and honor for Don Jesús to help his church. He participated in various spiritual retreats, selling food after mass and taking communion to families who were ill.
We are going to miss Don Jesús. His faith, the love for his Catholic community, his personality and the affection that he had so much for and showed for his Socorrito will always be in our hearts.
