Joseph Everett Otto

Memorial services for Joseph Everett Otto of Ukiah will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 10 am at the New Life Community Church. Joseph passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born May 14, 1947 in Grafton, North Dakota, Joe served 3 ½ years in the US Army and was a medic in Vietnam for a year. He was a Family Nurse Practitioner, receiving a BS Degree in Physical Therapy in 1975 and did graduate work in the Stanford/Davis PA/NP Program in 1978. Joe was proud of being a family man and raising two talented and loving children, of the development and management of Job Care – an occupational medicine clinic at UVMC. He spent one week a year for 15 years taking local teens to Tijuana to work on building projects for orphans and rehab sites. Joe loved the outdoors, whether gardening, skiing or backpacking. He will be remembered for his ever present kindness and support of others. He used to say, “You’re milking that to death.”
Joe is survived by his wife of 37 years, Christine Otto of Ukiah, daughter Emily Otto of Ukiah, son Scott Otto and wife Heidi of Ukiah, sister Linda Marty of Chicago, brothers Dick and Paul Otto of Ukiah. He was preceded in death by his parents Everett and Ivea Otto and niece Nancy Otto.
Memorial contributions may be made to the New Life Community Church – Mexico Trips, Ukiah Valley Medical Center – New Emergency Department Fund or the Veteran’s Fisher House Foundation for housing of families of ill military members and veterans.
