Robert Joseph Mort

Known for his kind hearted nature, countless friends and dedication to family, Robert “Bob” Joseph Mort passed suddenly on December 10, 2023 in Ukiah, California.

He was born in San Francisco, California in 1937 and grew up in the North Beach area of the city.  Attending Sacred Heart High School, he was an all-star athlete playing on both the baseball and basketball teams.  Remaining very loyal to his alma mater, he continued to attend all of the reunions.  While still in high school, he met the love of his life, Antoinette, “Toni-Honey”.  They were married for 52 years before her passing in 2007.  Shortly after he was married, Bob started his career with PG&E in San Francisco.  His career journey took him to San Jose, Bakersfield and finally to Ukiah in 1987.  Bob ended his 43-years with PG&E as the gas supervisor for Mendocino and Lake County.  During these years, Bob often mentioned how appreciative he was for all the support he received from Toni’s family--the Dominguez and Prieto families.

Throughout the years, Bob had many hobbies which included but were not limited to building model airplanes, model racecars, slot car racing, bowling, collecting record albums, and golf.  He was a frequent player at the Ukiah Valley Golf Course.  Bob was also a member at the Ukiah Elks Lodge.

Bob’s love and dedication to his family was without boundaries.  His children were heavily involved in aquatics and Bob never missed a swim meet or water polo match.  You always knew when Bob was in the stands—he was their biggest fan and he continued that dedication throughout their lives.  He was the true essence of “being there” for his children and grandchildren.  His children say that they could not have asked for a better father and he will be missed every day.

Bob’s children would like to thank all of his friends and neighbors for loving him and adding so much joy and wonderful experiences to his life.  We are grateful for you.

Bob is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Antoinette “Toni-Honey” Mort (2007), his mother, Augusta Maniscalco Figueroa, his father, Alfred Mort and his sister, Janet Mort George.

Bob is survived by the following beloved family; Robert Lawrence Mort and his wife Janine, Gary Steven Mort and his wife Rochelle, Denise Marie Hinkle, grandchildren Aaron Akbari-Mort and his wife Sami, Courtney Mort-Siemens, Alyssa Woodard, Jennifer Gialenes, Thomas Tipton, Sean Hinkle, Emily Hinkle, his great-grandchildren, Paxton Siemens, Florence Siemens, Natalie Gialenes, his brother, John Mort and his dearest friend and companion Vonna Myers. He will be deeply missed by all.

A celebration of life service will be held on February 17, 2023, 11:30am at the Ukiah Elks Lodge, 1200 Hastings Rd, Ukiah, CA 95482.  Lunch will be served after the service.
