In Loving Memory of Steven Weiss September 17, 1958 – June 14, 2025

Steven Weiss, a lifelong resident of Ukiah, California, passed away on June 14, 2025, at the age of 66. Born in San Francisco on September 17, 1958, Steve spent his early years in Corte Madera and Hopland before moving to Ukiah in the fifth grade. He graduated from Ukiah High School in 1976, where he was an avid athlete, playing varsity football and swimming competitively. He also had a lifelong love for baseball.

After a brief time living in Sun Valley, Idaho, Steve returned to Ukiah, where he would spend the rest of his life. He worked for nearly four decades as an Industrial Painter at Advanced Manufacturing and Development in Willits, where he was known for his strong work ethic and attention to detail.

In 2013, Steve married Liz Hamburg. Though their paths later diverged, they remained connected through shared memories and mutual respect.

Steve was deeply involved in his faith community and actively participated in the ministries of local churches, including First Baptist Church and Trinity Baptist Church in Ukiah. He especially enjoyed working with youth and being part of a supportive church family.

Steve’s greatest passion was golf. He spent countless joyful hours on the course with his golf buddies and was a proud member of his local golf club. He also loved fishing, hunting, and cheering on the San Francisco Giants. Music was another of his joys—especially classic rock ‘n roll.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Barbara Weiss.

Steve is survived by his sister, Nancy Weiss; his niece, Allyson Cullen; his former spouse, Liz Hamburg; and a wide circle of friends, neighbors, and church community members who will deeply miss his humor, kindness, and generous heart.

Steve will be remembered for his quick wit, his love of laughter, his devotion to family and faith, and the simple joys he found in life. His faith was a cornerstone of his life and brought him comfort and peace in his later years. He was a dear brother, uncle and friend to many. He will be missed.

A memorial service to celebrate Steve’s life will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church, 302 Henry Street, Ukiah.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations in Steve’s memory to a causes close to his heart such as Ukiah First Baptist Church Benevolence Fund or Ukiah Municipal Golf course, Capital fund.
