Obituary:
Kathryn E Thompson age 91 of Ukiah, Ca died on Wednesday June 15, 2017 at the home of her daughter Janine. She was born December 16, 1925 in Englewood, Colorado to Theodore and Esther Armstrong and was the eldest of seven children.
In 1947 Kathryn married Duane Thompson in Englewood, Colorado. They moved to Ukiah when Duane accepted a teaching position in1951 where they lived the remainder of their lives.
Kathryn received her AS degree at Colorado Women’s College and continued her education at Colorado A & M and Sonoma State University receiving her BA in 1973.
Kathryn was a homemaker who made every holiday and meal a special occasion. She taught sewing, quilting, head start, and was a substitute teacher throughout Mendocino County. In addition to being an exceptional seamstress, she loved to golf and was an avid gardener growing beautiful roses and orchids. She was passionate about her love of family, music, literature and travel. Kathryn loved to sing and had a beautiful soprano voice; she participated in many choirs and musicals in Ukiah. Kathryn believed in giving back to her community and volunteered in many organizations throughout the years.
She is survived by her children Douglas Thompson of Thailand, Carolyn Lamcke of Gilroy, CA and Janine Thompson of Ukiah, CA. Grandchildren Joel Thompson, Leslie Lamcke, David Lamcke, Rachel King and Philip King Jr. Great-grandchildren Adeline King and Patrick Lamcke. Siblings Betty Wallace, Joe Armstrong (Maggie) and Susie Gould (Walt). Brother and Sister In-laws Kenny Minor, Mona Armstrong, Dorothy Ferrara and Phyllis Horst. She was Auntie Kay to numerous Nieces and Nephews.
In addition to her husband Duane Thompson, she was preceded in death grandson Daniel Duane King, siblings Lois Minor, Theodore Armstrong and Carolyn Armstrong.
The Family would like to thank dear friends Jessica Owens, Shelley Stickles, Vera Laberdie and caregivers Brittany, Jessie, and Maria for the excellent care they provided during her last days.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 am Saturday June 24, 2017 at the Ukiah United Methodist Church 270 N Pine St. Ukiah, CA.
