Violet Bethine Vice - age: 88
(May 10, 1927 to January 30, 2016 )
Resident of Redwood Valley, California

Obituary:
Bethine passed away peacefully at home on January 30th, surrounded by her family. Born May 10, 1927, to Roy & Iva Hartnett in Zenith, Kansas. She attended Wesley Medical Center of Nursing in Wichita, KS and graduated as a Registered Nurse. Shortly after graduation she married Robert Vice and moved to California. They eventually built the family home in Redwood Valley where she lived for the past 57 years. She worked as the head surgical nurse at the State Hospital in Talmage. After its closing she went to work at Ukiah Community Hospital where she retired in 1982. Bethine was an active member of the Eastern Star organization for many years. She enjoyed travelling, especially a Grey Hound bus tour of the US, and a cruise to the Hawaiian Islands with her siblings. The center of her life was her family and nothing brightened her days more than spending time with them. She was always thrilled to attend their activities, especially sports of any kind.
She is survived by her children, Sheryl Aycrigg (Rob), Bobbi Kelly-Ryan (Rick), David Vice (Sue), Leslie Ford (Mel). She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Joe, Holly, Amy, Bonnie, Jonica, Sam and Kelvin, plus 6 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Bob, in 1981.
We would like to give a special thanks to Debbie Akin her friend and caregiver, and Dr. Iyad Hanna for his care to her for many years. In lieu of flowers, donations to Salvation Army, Redwood Valley/Calpella Fire Dept or the Phoenix Hospice would be appreciated.
Please join us for a graveside service at the Ukiah Cemetery on Friday February 5th at 2:00 PM. A reception to celebrate her life will follow at the Ukiah Garden Café on South State St, Ukiah.
Eversole Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
