Wanda Lee Sloan
Wanda Lee Sloan passed away at the Cloverdale Healthcare Center on March 6th, 2026, at the age of 91. Wanda was born September 12, 1934 in Nitro, West Virginia.
Wanda met her husband, Bob Sloan, of 64 years in high school in West Virginia. They married, had two sons, Skip and Jeff.
The family moved to California in 1961. Driving across country together in a 1950 Chevrolet Styleline Deluxe. Living in southern California briefly and eventually making their way to settle in Walnut Creek. Where they would lay down roots and become part of the community and raise their two sons.
Wanda loved family, animals, music, the ocean, reading, entertaining and was a wonderful cook. Wanda and Bob were part of the Rip-Snorters square dance club in Walnut Creek. Wanda would design and sew the outfits for their group. Every Thursday night baking something special for the weekly potluck dances. Wanda worked at and often spoke fondly of her time at the Handlebar, a toy store in Lafayette, for 30+ years.
During the 1990s, Wanda and Bob moved north to Hopland CA. Where they purchased and developed land, creating several beautiful homes. They quickly became staples in the community at the Ukiah Senior Center. Where Wanda would find her love for Tai Chi. Quickly becoming a master at the art. Wanda was the Dinner Dance decorator at the senior center for many years and had a great time doing it.
Wanda loved Hawaii and deeply cherished yearly trips with her husband, Bob, and sometimes brought her grandchildren. She never missed a chance to celebrate a holiday or a birthday and have a special dinner for her family at her home.
Wanda is preceded in death by her parents Donald and Nelly, and her husband of 64 years, Robert “Bob” Sloan. Wanda is survived by her sister Kitty, sons Robert P. Jr (Nicky), Jeffery (Janet), granddaughter Jessie (Mike), grandson Nikolai, and great grandson Winston Neville.
Private services to be held Friday morning at Eversole Mortuary, in Ukiah. The family wishes for memorial donations to be made to the Inland Valley Humane Society of Mendocino County.
