(February 03, 1953 to May 25, 2014 )
Resident of Potter Valley, California

Obituary:
Paul Brian Warden, 61, of Weiser, ID passed away peacefully in his sleep with his wife Jennifer by his side on May 25, 2014 at his Mom's home in Potter Valley, Ca. Paul had been diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer in 2011 and battled this disease with strength, grace and dignity; he was a fighter, living years longer than doctors expected. Paul was born in Richmond, Ca. on February 3, 1953. He moved to Potter Valley when he was a child and graduated from Potter Valley High School in 1971. He married the love of his life, Jennifer Douglas of Potter Valley in 1973. Together they opened up the very successful local Butcher Shop, Warden Country Meats in 1981. Paul provided butchering and processing meats to locals in the Mendocino and Lake County areas. Paul and Jennifer were blessed with their daughter Julie in 1984. Julie was the light of Paul's life and also his sidekick, as a little girl, just two years old, accompanying him on butchering jobs in his Butcher Truck. In 1995 they sold their shop in Potter Valley and moved to Weiser, ID where they purchased a local grocery store, P & J Market and Butcher Shop. In 1998 Paul was diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease and was in need of a transplant. Due to the current health problems they sold their store and shop in 1999. He battled his kidney disease having to go onto dialysis while waiting for a viable match for a kidney transplant. Luckily, he didn’t have to wait long and his long time friend and brother-in-law, Russ Todd, was able to donate a kidney. In 2000 the kidney transplant was performed and was a success. After recovering from the transplant Paul was ready for another adventure and purchased a Custom Butcher and Meat Processing Shop in Manns Creek, called Wardens Meats. Once again he provided services to local ranchers and hunters. He competed in the California Meat Processing Convention and received several awards. Paul worked ALL his life and was determined to continue to do so through his illnesses, butchering and cutting meat. Through all the years Paul was ill he never complained, not once. He was a hard worker and a loyal friend, with excellent morals and values. He loved the outdoors, mountains, rivers, and ocean. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and camper and he was always ready to take his friends with him. He loved to go visit his childhood ranch in Potter Valley, Ca. on the Eel River to hunt, fish, cut wood, and spend time with all his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife Jennifer of 41 years, his beloved daughter Julie Abbate and her husband John and granddaughter Josie of Chico, Ca., his Mom Wanda Warden of Potter Valley, Ca., his twin sister Nancy Todd and husband Russ Todd of Potter Valley, Ca., and many, many friends in both Idaho and California. Paul's service will be held in Potter Valley, Ca. on June 21st, 2014 at 11:00 at the Potter Valley Bible Church. A BBQ will follow at 1:00pm at Family Camp on the Potter Valley Ranch where he grew up: address 20021 Ridgeway Highway Potter Valley, Ca. Family wishes to have any donations be made to UCSF Pancreatic Cancer Society or UCSF Kidney Transplant Foundation address 400 Parnassus Ave Suite A 701 San Francisco, Ca. 94143.
