Obituary:
Evelyn Wise, 91, of Roseburg, Oregon, died July 1, 2018 at home surrounded by family. Visitation will be held Monday, July 9, 4:00-8:00PM at Eversole Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 10, 2018, 10:00AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Ukiah, 514 West Church Street. Graveside services at Russian River Cemetery will follow, then there will be a reception at Bromley Hall at First Presbyterian Church.
Evelyn was born May 23, 1927 in Wesley, Iowa to Fred and Louise (Mayland) Baade.
After graduating from Plover High School in Iowa class of 1945, she taught in a one room country school for 2 years. Prior to teaching, she was a telephone operator in Rolfe, Iowa.
Evelyn married her childhood friend Earnest Wise, June 8, 1947 in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Rolfe, Iowa. They were blessed with 4 children.
Evelyn and Earnest were happily married for 62 years, before Earnest passed away.
Evelyn did child care in her home for many years and was called “Grandma Evie” by the children.
Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with family, especially outings by the ocean.
Evelyn was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Ukiah, CA, where she taught Sunday School and was a Wedding Coordinator and Deacon.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Dianna Hamrick & husband, Lee, Roseburg, OR; son, Duane Wise & wife, Shirley, Hanover, IN; daughter, Julie Orsi & husband, Jim, Sparks, NV; 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-laws, Marie Baade, Humboldt, IA; Fern Baade, Beech Island, S. Carolina, Eula (Wise) Barber, Ukiah, CA; brother-in-law, Ron Wise & wife, Pat, Sparks, NV. Also, many nieces & nephews.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Wise, daughter, Nancy Lynn Wise, grandson, Joshua Heston, parents, Fred & Louise Baade, sisters Louise Andersen, Joan Fox, Sophie Cambra & five brothers; Fred, William, Henry, John & Ernest Baade.
